What's New

Now Out: The Last 2 Radical Notes, 4 New-Monics, and 4 Revisions

The last two Radical Notes have posted! I have now published Radical Notes for all the radicals on duty in the full set of Joyo kanji! Hooray! Many older Radical Notes need updating, and that project will take awhile, but for now it's time to celebrate this milestone!

I greatly expanded the following Radical Note, which previously just redirected readers to a Thematic Explorations piece:

Radical Note 71 on 无 and 旡, the “crooked heaven" radical: Find out about the radical inside 既 (1126: already), learning how that radical connects to both nothingness and heaven.

The next Radical Note is brand new:

Radical Note 192 on 鬯, the "fragrant herbs" radical: Gain a clearer view of the radical inside 鬱 (1963: depression), and see how this fragrant radical relates to that melancholy state of mind.

In addition, revisions of these essays have posted:

Details are at the links. If you've bought these essays before or if you have a subscription, you can download new versions for free.

Finally, Ulrike has created these new-monics, which are free:

価 (626: value)
刊 (636: publication)
幹 (637: trunk)
歓 (639: joy)
