Revision History:

Mar. 10, 2023: p. 12: Made several changes to the last sample sentence.

June 22, 2021:

  • p. 10, sidebar 4: Updated Henshall’s etymology of 揚.
  • p. 12: Added a link to the Kanshudo games.

Aug. 23, 2019:

  • p. 1: I added several kanji to the look-alikes list.
  • p. 2: I updated the Sears link and revised the Henshall etymology to reflect what the new edition says. Shortening the Etymology Box meant that I could move Sidebar 2 from p. 3 to p. 2.
  • p. 3: The remaining sidebar on the page drew on a no-longer-valid etymology in the old Henshall edition, so I revised that text.
  • p. 4: The BBS called 2ちゃんねる is now called 5ちゃんねる, and I can no longer access that site, so I updated the text and deleted the link.
  • p. 11: I deleted a dead link to an Amazon product.
  • p. 12: I added a link back to this page so you can more easily access the game below.
