Synopsis

Caves are meant for exploring, so it's fitting that 窟 as "cave" will prompt us to investigate unusual topics such as Chinese and French literature, a miscarriage of justice in Japan, and Spanish cave paintings. As "den," 窟 provides a walk on the wild side that includes yakuza hangouts, opium dens, and brothels! Also find out how the Japanese have used caves as tombs, temples, and shrines.
